This is what’s left at the moment of my Reflectors and Tail Light Collection.  If I had kept all the reflectors found on my river walks…the collection might be twice this size.  I have used many of them on my sculptures.  Don’t you enjoy photos where you can see the photographer’s shoes?

Because they are reflective and can catch the light, they are  good devices for calling attention to my sculptures.  I see myself as also being a reflector because I’m gathering river detritus to call attention not only to what’s in the water…but what can be done with such things if you have a bit of imagination. 

The condition of the environment is certainly something that gives me pause for reflection.  One value in creating an interesting object is that ideally it slows the viewer down long enough to pause for consideration and perhaps personal reflection as well.  With hope the work reflects this?

I love these “ruby- red” colors.  I wonder why there isn’t a greater color range than the three I have come across?  Do they make “blues” and “greens”?

I’m fairly certain that most of these “silver-white ” reflectors have come off bicycles.  When the light hits them just right…they are brilliant.

Many of the “yellows” are simple lights that were probably knocked off boats and boat trailers as they were lowered  and later removed from the water.  I’m still debating whether I’ll keep this collection intact or use them all up on a few nice works…….. I’m leaning towards the latter.
